On February 1, Carlos Alcaraz redefined tennis history. At just 22 years old, the Spaniard secured his first Australian Open title by defeating 10-time champion Novak Djokovic (2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5). With this victory, Alcaraz becomes the youngest male player ever to complete the Career Grand Slam, breaking Rafael Nadal’s 16-year record.
“Nobody knows how hard I’ve worked for this specific trophy,” Alcaraz said, hoisting the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup.
For the 38-year-old Djokovic, the hunt for a record 25th major continues as he suffered his first-ever defeat in an Australian Open final.
